Description

Annapurna region

This popular trek in the Annapurna region offers unparalleled views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges along with the diversity of Nepal. Within a few days we gain a sense of serenity as we gradually ascend through hamlets and pristine forests to the alpine heights of Khobra Ridge. The views are incredible with the sheer walls of the magnificent Dhaulagiri plunging to the misty depths of the Kali Gandakhi – the deepest gorge in the world. We are further graced with the high pastures above Khobra Ridge beneath the amazing Annapurna South and Bharha Shikha – more commonly known as Annapurna Fang, and where ancient pilgrim trails lead to the sacred waters of Khaire Lake. Our route also offers staggering views of Annapurna South and other surrounding peaks. Cocooned by stunning mountains and peaks and hiking past lakes formed by the glaciers and ice falls of Annapurna South, perception and time subtly shift and one feels like a pioneer on a completely different planet.

We booked the 12 days Annapurna & Dhaulagiri trek with Off2holiday, Lalitpur in November 2016. We can definitely recommend this trekking route because it was doable for Medium-sporty people, nice and quiet in the beginning and a bit more crowded in the end, but still very very nice. There are some hard parts in between, but that belongs to trekking too (take a warm sleeping bag!). We mostly had different paths and changing beautiful views. The lodges/tea houses we stayed at were very different. Sometimes we had electricity, (warm) water and wifi, and sometimes we did ‘not have it. It is just different in every area of the mountains. As we were only 2 friends with guide and porter, there was some flexibility possible. That was especially good because one of us felt sick at the beginning of the trek. It was a pleasure having Pramod as a guide and Dinesh as a porter. Both were so nice, funny, chatty and attentive. Their English was quite good too and we could ask them anything. They were well prepared, experienced in the mountains, and professional. Furthermore, they always took a lot of care of us and made us feel comfortable.

Off2holiday is probably a medium-to-expensive agency but it is definitely worth the money.

We would especially like to thank Pramod and Dinesh for keeping up a good mood, taking so much care of us and having good conversations. It was an absolutely amazing experience!
